Sometimes, our best products aren't born from market research or trending keywords. Sometimes, they start with a single, simple question in a Facebook message. This is the story of how a mother's request for her son led to our most meaningful custom portrait yet.
On March 23, 2026, we received a direct message on our Facebook page from a customer named Deborah. She asked a straightforward question:
"Do you have prints with rock climbing?"
At the time, we didn't. Our catalog was filled with kings, queens, knights, and sports stars, but we hadn't ventured into extreme outdoor sports. We told Deborah that we currently didn't have that specific style, but her request sparked an idea. We immediately forwarded her message to our design team.
From Concept to Canvas: Co-Creating with a Customer
Over the next few days, our designers, Light, got to work. We didn't just want to create a generic climbing background; we wanted it to look natural and authentic. We sent Deborah a few early concepts, including a photographic style and a classic oil painting style, asking for her feedback to refine the design.
Deborah loved the "natural-looking one." We finalized the artwork, listed the brand new product—The Climber—and sent her a customized discount code to thank her for the inspiration.
Then, she replied with a message that brought our entire team to a standstill.
Meet Ivy: The True Climber
Deborah explained why this specific rock climbing theme meant so much to her family:
"Thank you, this is awesome. I will definitely get one ordered. There's a story behind why this was important... my son has a Border Collie that has terminal cancer. Her name is Ivy. She's climbed rocks for many years with my son. I truly appreciate what you did."
Suddenly, "The Climber" wasn't just a new product on our website. It became a tribute.
More Than Just Art
Stories like Ivy's remind us why we do what we do at Artzuzu. A pet portrait is never just an image printed on canvas; it is a celebration of a bond. For Ivy and her human, that bond was forged on the sides of mountains, tackling climbing routes together, sharing the fresh air and the thrill of the ascent.
Terminal cancer may take our pets away from us physically, but art has the power to immortalize their spirit. In her custom portrait, Ivy will forever remain the adventurous, loyal rock climber she has always been.
To Deborah and her son: Thank you for sharing Ivy's story with us. We are incredibly touched and honored that our artwork can play a small part in preserving the memory of all her beautiful rock-climbing adventures.
If your pet has an adventurous spirit, or if you want to honor a furry friend who loved the great outdoors, discover The Climber for Pets. Every masterpiece we create carries a story—we can't wait to help you tell yours.
